Rock My Soul Five

Sunday, March 1, 2015,  at 3 P.M. the Arts Institute of Western Maine presents The RMS Five, a roots-based gospel sound of rich vocal blends and soul stirring harmonies.   Their performance will take the audience on a musical tour of gospel’s rich and varied history—from Negro Spirituals, the masterful gospel-blues of Blind Willie Johnson and the seminal work of Thomas A. Dorsey to the more contemporary gospel-based Americana music of Buddy Miller and the Band’s Levon Helm. Along the way The RMS Five will also touch on the close harmony singing of Southern Gospel, the music of the Civil Rights movement, and even the eclectic pop of Paul Simon, who over the years has championed gospel music.
